Why install
- It opens full-screen, without browser chrome taking up the top of the display.
- It gets its own icon on your home screen or dock.
- Solo levels and the bot keep working without a connection.
- It launches faster because the game files are cached.
Nothing is downloaded from an app store, no permissions are requested, and installing does not create an account.
Android
In Chrome, open the game and look for the Install button in the top left of the home screen. If it is not showing, open the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. Confirm, and the icon appears in your app drawer.
Samsung Internet, Edge and Firefox on Android all offer the same option in their menus.
iPhone and iPad
Safari does not show an install prompt, so it has to be done manually. Open the game in Safari, tap the Share button, scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
This must be done in Safari — adding from Chrome on iOS creates a bookmark rather than an installed app. Note that iOS is more aggressive about clearing website storage, so if you have not played for a long time your progress may be discarded.
Windows and macOS
In Chrome or Edge, open the game and use the install icon in the address bar, or the browser menu's Install Cosmic Memory entry. It then behaves like a desktop app with its own window and taskbar or dock icon.
Safari on macOS supports this through File → Add to Dock.
What works offline
The game caches its own files, so after the first visit it will load without a connection.
- Works offline: the solo campaign, local pass and play, the bot, all content pages you have already visited, music and sound.
- Needs a connection: online matchmaking, invite links, the AI opponent and its chat, and adverts.
Storage and updates
The install is small — well under a few megabytes — because it is mostly code and a handful of images. Your progress is stored separately in the browser's local storage and takes a negligible amount of space.
Updates happen automatically. When a new version is published, it is fetched in the background and applied the next time you open the game. You never have to reinstall.
Because the installed app shares storage with the browser you installed it from, progress carries over in both directions. See Levels and Progression for what is saved.
Uninstalling
On Android and iOS, remove the icon the same way you would any other app. On desktop, open the installed app, then use its menu to choose Uninstall.
Uninstalling may or may not clear your saved progress depending on the platform. If you want a genuinely clean slate, clear site data for the game in your browser settings.
